Battle of the Flocky
October 7 & 8, 2017 - Stone Fort Days is commemorating the Battle of the Flocky, believed to be the first documented cavalry charge of the United States Army. The battle was between the American Militia and a party of Loyalists and Natives. The event is being hosted by the 2nd Regiment, Albany County Militia and the 2nd Regiment Light Dragoons, Talmadge's Troop. The event is on a 25-acre site that included the Old Stone Fort Museum Complex. The fort itself was built as a church in 1772 and stockaded in 1777 as one of a chain of fortifications along the Schoharie Creek.
There is ample room for parking, camping and a large battlefield. Tactical demonstrations untilizing all participants will occur each day followed by a demonstration of the Dragoon's charge at the Flocky. Firewood, water and straw are provided as well as a discount on museum purchases. The registration form is attached below. For more information contact Jon Osinski at firstname.lastname@example.org
